World Carfree Network - ICC

Announcements:

  • Reminder: Gandalf gone for two weeks from Oct. 21st to Nov. 6th.

  • Tanja gone in two weeks, leaving CZ on 3rd.

  • We have the new Source* videos, plus printer toner, new credit cards; tomorrow will pick up t-shirts.

  • Co-op food delivery 8 pm this evening. Office gets a 12-kg mixed veggie box.

Agenda:

  • Biketour Meeting Zagreb - Mostly was an evaluation of the 2005 biketour. Meeting minutes available. Gandalf paid travel reimbursement. They asked for help with the resources they'll bring on the road next year - which we'll have.

  • Biketour 2006 grant - Looks like we have all partners except for Slovakia. We'll call Randy's friend Lenka who is organiser of Ecotopia 2006 in Slovakia. (She lives in Bratislava and works with Amnesty, and formerly Greenpeace.)

  • EVS graphic design position - We have four applicants; don't know if any are appropriate. We eliminated the Greek and French ones; two Spanish girls left. If we don't take one, we will advertise for EVS positions for the next deadline (3 months from now), with the following five focus areas sought: graphic design, media work, Mobility Justice Project, World Carfree Day, Carbusters subscription boosting/promotion. That way, if we don't find a graphic person, we have other possibilities.

  • Towards Carfree Cities VII - The deadline for hosting proposals is December 10. Normally the conference would come back to Europe (or nearby) this time. The Steering Committee is responsible for assessing proposals and making a decision by the end of January.

  • Vincent tasks - We'll talk to him about working on some of the following: World Carfree Day, magazine promotion, media work (assisting Arie), more fact research, website work.

  • Carbusters #26 theme - Steven has idea of doing theme on education, quite broad that would allow a range of content. Ideas: Paul Michel of Caledonian School (Prague) did an ESL lesson plan based on an article in Carbusters. Also, someone is proposing an article on 'Art and Social Change' (tailored to our themes). Randy proposes a 'Top Ten Myths About the Carfree Movement' with pointed statements and responses.
