Facebook: Was an experiment. Altogether nearly 6500 people were invited to join the WCD and 1800 individuals accepted the incitation. Facebook was dominated by Finnish users...no member orgs, but received 2 huge orders for WCD from Finland: potential members?

BIG DISCUSSION: Press Work: Important, but cannot promote WCD if we don't know about it. Needs a press coordinator + national representatives.

There was miscommunication regarding the press release work internally. Chris and Theo agreed to do the PR but Justin insisted on contributing himself on the Wednesday's PR just before the monday release. We had agreed to cooperate, which in retrospect was a mistake. Tanja encouraged Justin not to spend time on the press release due to the fact the the tasks for the WCD had been delegated already 2 weeks earlier and with the limited resources it was essential to plan the work in order to ensure we are able to manage everything. In the end the Justin's version of what he had worked on wasn't sent until 5pm on Friday. Chris had already been working on his draft which didn't cohere with Justin's. Chris with Theo's 3 years of journalistic experience went ahead with their press release to be sent to the internal list on monday for the internal list to include their impression. Minutes after Chris had sent his ICC press release, Justin sent his version and then asked for Chris' apology of his lack of cooperation with him. This was a complex exchange, but ultimately the interaction was not efficient or productive. Aside from that, the 4 single tasks give to Justin (member-related) weren't done satisfactorily or at all. Therefore the ICC was disappointed with his performance.

We need to know what is the WCN's and ICC role in regard to WCD. We cannot be authority on WCD (to promote it or coordinate) if we don't even know what our members are doing. We cannot promote WCD, offer press releases, follow ups etc when we receive an average of 20 reports per year, when members are not interested in our support. Don't have the capacity to deal with press efficiently, nationally or internationally.

Before we commit to anything next year we need to know what our members want, and what the Network needs and where does the WCD stand in terms of project priorities.

General: Tanja: We should start WCFD planning much earlier than we do. Theo: It needs a project manager? Tanja: This year was problematic as AGM gave no priorities for projects, also financial situation. Justin: AGM gave basic support for WCFD. No specific agreement or wording. Nothing in minutes. Justin will search his notes. Tanja: Wrote to big list about WCFD prior to day - no response from entire network. Theo: member help towards WCFD was nil. They need to participate, or inform us about it. AGM needs to set a priority level for WCD.

Decision: ICC needs to know if WCFD is priority. This was a problem with AGM. The next AGM has to set project priorities and "gather" commitments from members' participation.

Decision: Wiki is a useful tool, will upgrade for next year, but should make sure Members are contributing!
Web Updates: Created wiki, but lack of web support. Same text for last few years. Needs an overhaul. Web is medium that requires constant updates, visual, content, technical etc. If we're directing people to web-section we need a better idea of who the page should be aimed at.

Theo: mostly media and groups interested in organising events (not members that is).

Ideas: customized WCD stickers, T-shirts, posters, buttons, Carbusters Reader etc. Coincides with magazine release in August.

National vs international. Are we responsible for national press releases? Tanja: No. Need to make international press releases, don't have capacity to provide individual assistance to national contacts. Bulk e-mail didn't work. Current press contacts (7 people, 5 bounced) need to be combined with new press contacts.

Carbusters: Promote and have WCD summary every year, but this is limited. Much potential to bring in more reports. But still only 20 reports is small compared to the number of events. We need to get more extensive and reliable reports - this would require a coordinator. Need global statistics. Follow up press release?

Nice idea to engage individuals, as website is directed towards organisations. Keep for next year.

Resource Centre: Launched special offer for members, but realised it a little too late. This should be done much earlier next year. Could ask members if they'd like customized items/stickers etc. WCD does not yet bring in money but consumes a lot of our time. Benefit media wise, but this could help make day financially beneficial.

Wiki: Useful tool. Was new and modeled on naked bike ride wiki. Ours was much poorer, but we did it one month before event, Naked has been up for years. This will improve over time. We have solid base of contacts, including press, of many previously unknown organisations. We engaged more people, and as an outreach tool for media it's good to have centralised base. Received many through WCN site's application. Theo has created style guide to prevent inconsistency with updates. List of WCD events is vital. Wiki is more interactive.

Sam: Confirmed two artists to work on T-shirts and have received preliminary art, and created draft designs. Can be mailed on request. Began research into printing costs etc. Editing, proofing of core content continues. Taught Theo basics of InDesign and have placed half of the magazine into layout before submission deadline. Met with Cigdem - coordinated front cover design. Plus extra Carbusters tasks: researching, solicitation of images + text etc.

Tanja: Working on membership fees. Conference requires coordination, Organising meeting with Randy later this week. Fundraising in cooperation with Sapi, MC meeting.

Sapi: Looking into fundraising opportunities: Met with Berto from YEE to improve fundraising strategy. Looking into conditions for EU fundraising. plan to set up project overview and plan with future grant deadlines. Contacting member organsations who may be interested in joint fundraising opportunities.
