World Carfree Network - ICC

Present: Kamila, Radka, Steve, Anna, Roeland

Announcements:

  • Randy: We received and signed the contract for the Bogota travel grant. The amount approved was 28,207 EUR, out of 28,747 that we requested. I am working with the group leaders from each of the five countries to make arrangements for travel payment, etc. Also, two monitors from the European Commission will be present on one day of the Bogota youth exchange. Therefore the funded 'advance planning visit' is now essential to make sure everything is very well organised, with the youth exchange having a programme that is partially separate from the rest of the conference. My visit to Bogota will be in late July or early August, for one week, with the exact dates depending on the price of airfares. It is fully funded by the grant.
  • We received rejections for two EYF grants. One was for a repeat Tabor meeting in 2007 (which they didn't like because it was too similar to the 2006 event). The other was for Carbusters magazine.
  • Randy: Autoholics Anonymous preparation is moving along over here in the UK. Details next week.

Arie brought the tea maker

Annas holidays: 17-28 July.

Steves holidays: 14 - 25 August

Roeland in Biketour: 16 July - 17 August

Agenda items:

  • Resource Centre: Randy: Any objections if we order 10 copies each of 'Ecocities' and 'Car Sick', and 20 copies of the North American version of 'Cutting Your Car Use'? (I figured we could use 20 copies of that book because it's smaller, cheaper and should sell faster.)
  • Randy: I found out about a company (Remarkable.co.uk) that makes ball-point pens out of car parts and mouse pads out of car tires. They also have notebooks where the cover is made out of car tires. All these products (and others) can be customised with a company/NGO name or logo. Unfortunately they have no car tire keychains for Autoholics Anonymous. Still, if we want any of these things, their Czech affiliate is Jitka at Czech Image - jitka@czechimage.cz or tel: 545424232. Perhaps the pens that say 'This pen was made from car parts' would be nice to order for the office. The pens and notepads might be good to include in the registration packet for future conferences too. But I propose not to include any of these things in the Resource Centre. Any thoughts or opinions?

Bogota: For the days that Randy and Anna have to be there before the Conference they will recieve 10 euros per day for food.During the Conference and until 26 they will recieve 18euros day, so they should look for free accomodation.

Robs idea about cheap computers: we have to know if they are good for us, how much are they and so on.

EYFA GRANT: Arie and Roeland are having a meeting next week.
