  • The press release is on WCN website. Justin did a phone interview for bbc world (radio) yesterday. The interviewee will tell justin when it'll be "on air" and on their website. He gave an explanation of our point of view and emphasized the positive actions and message. He made sure we're not related to the vandalism. It will be in a radio show together with something about the 4x4 alliance.

Travel budget is tight. Some countries are OK but others over-budget (f.a. sweden). We have to ask people to travel as cheap as possible, in total we're over budget.

  • Randy: If we could get a high-quality version of the video "En 2 Ruedas" from

www.proyectozoom.org/contenidos/video_zoom.php?id=79 -- that would be great for the screening.

1. Magazine

  • Issue 31 pre-press--proofreading, etc. (Bas)
Micheal Bluejay will help with proofreading. Christi and Justin will help also. Bas will finish by Friday. Rob will do a final edit. It should go to press next week, depending on Rob.

Decision: N/A

  • Suggestion from reader/volunteer (Justin)
Michael BJ suggests that we have a more direct link to subscription and that we set up an associate programme where indy websites can offer CB subscriptions and can get an incentive for doing so. Michael offers to set up this system for us.

(discussion) Christi and Justin think its a good idea IF WCN has control of which sites can join. Justin asked Michael about this but hasn't received a response. Christi suggests putting off decision until we have this answer. Kamila suggests discussing the issue in detail at the magazine meeting. Justin reminds us that he is available while he is here (this week). Christi suggests we ask if he can do it from home.

Decision: We should decide tomorrow and speak to him about it when he is in the office. Everyone agrees we should do it as long as we have control over which websites join and how much money the incentives are. We will decide tomorrow. Our member orgs should have it at the very least.

2. About us section of Web (Christi)

  • About us was set up as it is due to legal and EC funding restrictions when WCN USA was still in the works. Given dropping bid for WCN USA 501c3 status and the incorporation of ICC as a "special project" of WCNE which links statutory (European) member orgs with like-minded orgs worldwide in a global network, Christi suggests "about us" can be rewritten for less apparent division between WCN global network and WCNE while still maintaining legal requirements of funders. Christi also points out there is some uneccessary info under legal structure (i.e. mention of previous bid for WCN USA as 501c3 and reasons for dropping the bid). Christi also points out that the section is not aimed at the average user and could be more user-friendly and relevant without sacrificing adhesion to EC funding rules. Christi offers to do the rewrite and submit the proposed text to all ICC staff for approval.

(discussion)

Decision: Christi will write and send it to everyone by Friday. We will use it to decide about the menus at the Tuesday meeting. The website meeting will be Tuesday @ 2.

1. EVS applications

  • 2 people are interested in doing EVS: Chris and Camille. Both look like good candidates. Chris has writing skills and is very interested in magazine and WCN in general. Bas knows Chris from Prague life and can arrange meeting with office people to get to know him a little. Camille has good background and interests: transport and mobility issues. She's french studying in Sweden and going to the Istanbul exchange. We should definitely interview her and ask for her availability. oNLY THING IS the space in the office (we will have 3 evs at once).

2. Car vandalism vs. WCN

  • Randy: We should find out website visits connected with this issue! Provider should be able to give it. It would be good also to get the message out even more, to get more coverage while the item is "hot".

3. Visegrad project update

  • Michal: Introduction to CB reader is finished, almost ready to publish Czech version. This week is the final session for layout (very new and original graphics), they expect good combination of text and graphics. English version ready for translation in Poland and Hungary. Slovakia will get Czech version to translate. Czech lounge planned on Monday September 17 with screening in kino Svetozor (European Mobility week). Still looking for good distributors in Czech Rep. A leaflet will be printed as well.

  • Randy: If we could get a high-quality version of the video "En 2 Ruedas" from

www.proyectozoom.org/contenidos/video_zoom.php?id=79 -- that would be great for the screening. And new society publishers is interested in the reader, to publish in english. Standard conditions, Newsociety.com. Michal will get in touch http://www.newsociety.com/NSPeditorialguidelines.php

4. Istanbul Youth exchange update

  • Brazil guy interested (eduardo). also thiagio from brazil member org. Randy, Christi and Jason as experts presenting things.

Added lines 1-50:

Present: Randy, Michal, Justin, Bas

Announcements:

  • CB magazine 31 is printed and looking good! Will be sent tomorrow, we need more people to help. Maybe contact prague tv and expats?

  • Randy applied for UK residency in July. requested expedited. Randy is worried if it will be processed on time.

  • Computers being updated in office: internet breakdown (hacking), this weekend everything will be fixed. We need to tell them which programs we use (doc's will be saved). Randy says it used to be very expensive to have more pc's on internet. Now situation's changed and easier to get it (Michal)

Randy: do we know size of office A & B? Would be good to backup to portable harddisk , to be sure we are safe (for pc problems or hackers).

  • We had a CB meeting yesterday: talked about possible changes to style/content and how to get more subscriptions. We'll have another meeting for next issue (content) next week with Christi, Justin and Bas.

  • Music in the park festival, last weekend in Prague: a Czech friend of Radka dropped by at our stand, she works for media company and could arrange free billboard space. Would be good in September for mobility week (cyklojizda).
