B. THE MULTILINGUALISM PROJECT
WCN homepage in foreign languages:
NEW TRANSLATIONS: Please feel encouraged to translate at least the homepage, which provides a summary as a very short overview. It includes a list of further recommended pages.
This would be very helpful, as the website should provide both easy access and a basic service to make people curious on WCN, not only for those who consider to join the network.

If you want to translate pages, there is already prepared an easy way how-to:
Go to the homepage (special first page for translators), there you find a doc-file that includes all pages which are useful for traslation. If your time is limited, just start from the beginning, because the pages in it are listed by priority.
Another option is, just in case you are experienced with html, that we could send you the original php-files directly and you can edit them with the text-only editor (note: if you download the php by yourself, this php includes much more stuff which does not need to be translated, so our original php we get by ftp is much simplier).

If you want to translate pages, there are two options how to proceed:
EITHER you copy the text of the english website into a DOC or RTF file (RTF prefered) and translate it there,
OR (in case you know some html) you send us a message which english pages you want to translate and we send you the related PHP files to translate directly in its html source code. Both options are fine for us. If something is not clear here, just drop us a note.

Please make sure that you download the most recent page before working on it. While working in a group of volunteering web editors, we need to keep the history of the files, to be safe and avoid confusion. Example:\\

When you finished the update, upload both files. That means, "pede.php" will overwrite the existing one, so your update will be visible. The "pede_yyyymmdd.php" file is the history file then, and if there was any mistake with "pede.php" at the end, it can be solved with "pede_yyyymmdd.php" again.

Please make sure that you download the most recent page before working on it. To be safe, we need to keep the history of the files. Example:
If you update a file, eg http://www.worldcarfree.net/links/pede.php , you first download "pede.php" to your computer.
Make a copy of it and add the date to the copy, so it is "pede_yyyymmdd.php", and then do NOT work on it any more.
Now you work on "pede.php" ONLY.
When you finished the update, upload both files. That means, "pede.php" will overwrite the existing one, so your update will be visible. The "pede_yyyymmdd.php" file is the history file then, and if there was any mistake with "pede.php" at the end, it can be solved with "pede_yyyymmdd.php" again.

NEW: http://www.worldcarfree.net/join/organisations-de.php Name: "WCN Mitgliedsorganisation werden" (Become a member org) - I simply translated the whole english version into German (the system with new file-name of new translated pages is to add "-de" to the original one. Steve v. Pohl did it that way with the 2004-Berlin-conference pages)

OPEN QUESTIONS / NOTES: - I don`t know how to create the link from the original english page to this german version. Usually there is a flag on top with a link to the translated page, but I fear to destroy the whole WCN page if I do something with the header-programming. I don`t know how this system with "header" and "footer" works, technically. But it would be perfect to have the related flag on top of both pages. Maybe Randy could do this ???

- Justin, when you are in contact with other foreign member orgs, could you encourage them to do the same for their language ? Would be very helpful, as we really need now money from member-orgs, and the website should provide easy services ...

The range of people is now alphabetically (Boric-Daggers-Field-Gallop-Green- and so forth) - I added links for all people to their member-orgs or similar (in some cases that was missing before). eg Milan, Ton, Steph, Justin (to Carbusters), Susa, Meltem, Steph (to TCC-08) - I changed some anchors to have the same system, always the family name: "boric", "daggers", "field" and so forth. That anchor is this, eg for Simon: steering-int.php#field - the file name of the previous version is "steering-int_20071210.php"

OPEN QUESTION / NOTE: - I checked the European Draft Statutes (in wiki section) to find out if it is correct to change Ivana to Pippa. I don`t know if Czech bureaucracy makes problems here. But the Statutes say, that in case of resigning of a Steerie (Ivana), the AB can replace. So it seems to be the same regulation like in our Global Statutes, and I hope all is correct now. I don`t know, if it is necessary, that WCN-EU sends a note to the Czech bureaucrats to inform them about this change - Kamila should know about. I will send an e-Mail to Kamila about (and cc to you)

OPEN QUESTIONS / NOTES: - I don`t know how to make this page visible. The link system on top of the page (below title) is somehow in the "header", and I cannot work with this. That means, so far this page is not yet visible to the public - there is no link to this page so far. Maybe Randy could do this ??? - I don`t know what Czech bureaucracy says about that. But from the European Draft Statutes (in wiki section) it seemed correct to me to do this. But that has to be confirmed (by Kamila ?), before the page is published / linked. GENERAL NOTE on eMail adresses (Spam-proof): In nearly all my new pages or my updates I changed the eMail-Adresses into this <SCRIPT TYPE="text/javascript"> system with this "correio1" and "correio2". Steve v. Pohl said, this is a Spam-proof system, and I hope he is right. Maybe I oversaw some eMail adresses in older versions. That is an ongoing update - whenever and whereever you see an old eMail-version, just do the update.

Justin, - can you update the "Minutes of Decisions" page ? There should be added the link to the SC-Berlin meeting (only bullet points to its decisions, so that all decisions can be read in detail in the minutes), also very important is the decision about Conference location 2009. And I think there were some more decisions, no ? - Also, the "Current Agenda" needs to be updated - some decisions are done already. It`s important to have that as soon as possible, latest before next AGM. I guess people look into it ... - Same for "Agenda Items Proposed by Members" - are the points there still actual ?? - Do you remember that we talked about re-organising the main wiki page ? After "Conferences" should be a new chapter "Annual General Meeting" for all AGM minutes, and after it there should be "WCN Organisation" (or so), with all ICC minutes, job descriptions etc. And in my view, here is the place for the SC wiki pages, because the SC is not a "Working Group", but part of the organisation. same for AB stuff, if there will be any in the future. So "Meetings" should be divided into those both new parts. Also, bring it all into a new order.
