Sunday 16 March: Arrival

8:00-midnight: Late-comers check-in at conference office (upstairs in Toulcuv Dvur hostel)
 

Monday 17 March: Opening day

9:45-10:15 am: Morning meeting (welcome, presentation of meeting theme, schedule overview, facilities overview, mention of sponsors/partners, etc.)
10:30-12:30 am: Introduction and presentation of each participant/participant group (Part I)
12:30-1:30 pm: Lunch
1:30-3:00 pm: Introduction and presentation of each participant/participant group (Part II)
3:15-4:30 pm: Strategy sessions
     a. "Car-Free Cities: From Vision to Reality" (Part I of III, facilitated by J.H. Crawford)
     b. "Campaigning in Central and Eastern Europe: Overcoming Barriers to Success" (Part I of III)
     c. "Urban Cycling Promotion: Sharing Successful Strategies" (Part I of III)
4:30-5:00 pm: Break/refreshments
5:00-5:30 pm: Plenary session (reportback from workshops/discussions)
5:30-6:15 pm: "Medieval Urbanism in Morocco: Lessons for the Modern World" - Slideshow presentation by Randy Ghent (co-founder and co-director, Car Busters [France, Czech Republic]; former editor of the Auto-Free Times [USA])
6:30-7:00 pm: Task group meetings as needed/free time
7:00-8:00 pm: Dinner
8:30-9:15 pm: "Models of European Cycle Planning: Good Practice from The Netherlands and Further Abroad" - Slideshow presentation by Jason Kirkpatrick (former vice mayor, City of Arcata, California, USA)
 

Tuesday 18 March: Public Day at Kino Aero, Prague 3

8:30-9:30 am: Breakfast, plus announcements; depart for Kino Aero
10:30-11:00 am: Press conference
11:00-11:20 pm: Reception, with refreshments
11:30-11:45 pm: Welcome address
11:45-12:25 pm: "Wrong Way, Go Back: A Guide to Intelligent Transport Planning" - Presentation by John Whitelegg (transport consultant, professor, editor of World Transport Policy & Practice, UK)
12:25-1:05 pm: "Bogota, Colombia: From Congested Chaos to World Model for Livable, Egalitarian Cities" - Presentation by Oscar Edmundo Diaz (organiser of Bogota, Colombia's first car-free day; assistant to former Bogota Mayor Enrique Penalosa)
1:05-1:15 pm: Questions from the audience
1:15-2:00 pm: Lunch
2:00-2:30 pm: "Making Our Cities Livable: Who's Doing What in the Czech Republic"(introduction to several Czech organisations)
2:30-3:10 pm: "Public Spaces - Public Life: Urban Design with the Pedestrian in Mind" - Slideshow presentation by Lars Gemzoe (architect and author, Denmark)
3:10-3:50 pm: "Car-Free Cities: Do We Need Them and Can They Work?" - Presentation by J.H. Crawford (author of "Carfree Cities," editor of Carfree Times, owner of Carfree.com, USA/Netherlands)
3:50-4:30 pm: "Roll Back Sprawl, Rebuild Civilisation!" - Presentation by Kirsten Miller (of Ecocity Builders, Berkeley, California, USA)
4:30-4:50 pm: Questions from the audience
4:50-5:00 pm: Closing remarks and thank you's
5:00-5:45 pm: Drinks, conversation (in lobby/bar area); return to Toulcuv Dvur
6:30-7:00 pm: Task group meetings as needed/free time
7:00-8:00 pm: Dinner
8:30 pm: Cultural Exchange Evening: Conference participants bring food, drink, music and performance to share from their respective countries or counter-cultural social scenes.
 

Wednesday 19 March

8:30-9:30 am: Breakfast
9:45-10:15 am: Morning meeting (presentation of meeting theme, schedule overview, etc.)
10:30-12:30 am: Walking tour of Old Town Prague and Castle District with Prague City Councillor Mirek Prokes, discussing history of transport(ation) in the city and current policies
12:30-1:00 pm: Reception with Mayor Pavel Bem at Prague City Hall followed by a viewing of the Old Town Square's animated astronomical clock at 1 pm
1:00-2:00 pm: Bag lunch and free time to explore city
3:15-4:30 pm: Strategy sessions
     a. "Car-Free Cities: From Vision to Reality""Car-Free Cities: From Vision to Reality" (Part II of III, facilitated by J.H. Crawford)
     b. "Campaigning in Central and Eastern Europe: Overcoming Barriers to Success" (Part II of III)

8:30 pm: Transport Activism Video Night in cooperation with the Czech Indymedia Centre (IMC Praha): Videos will include "We Are Traffic!" (about the global Critical Mass bike ride phenomenon) by Ted White, "Car Fright" (about car walker Michael Hartmann) by Roland Schraut, and several more videos from around the world.
 

Thursday 20 March

10:30-12:30 am: "The Past, Present and Future of Car Busters: Assessment of Past Projects, Brainstorming on Future Direction (R. Ghent, R. Lane, I. Jakubkova) - includes "Decentralising Car Busters into an International Network"
12:30-1:30 pm: Lunch
1:30-3:00 pm: Workshops
     a. "Developing an 'Autoholics Anonymous' Programme"
     b. Training: Media Skills
     c. Training: "How to Level a Curb" (Green Action Zagreb)
3:15-4:15 pm: Preparation for Tour de Prague bike ride (Critical Mass)
4:15-4:30 pm: Snack break
4:30 pm: Leave for Jiriho z Podebrad, meeting point for bike ride
6:00-7:30 pm: Tour de Prague bike ride (Critical Mass)
7:30-8:30 pm: Dinner, back at Toulcuv Dvur

1:30-3:00 pm: Clean up meeting facilities
